Mike Brown will step down as Salt Lake City police chief

SALT LAKE CITY – The Salt Lake City police chief will retire after nearly a decade at the police department.
On Wednesday, the Salt Lake City Police Department announced that Chief Mike Brown will step down on Feb. 28.
“Before becoming Chief, Brown had a distinguished career as a patrol officer, gang detective, motor officer, and SWAT officer— being a part of the first generation of SWAT snipers,” a police press release stated.
The department did not say who would replace Brown.
