Search warrant reveals new details in Cottonwood Heights murder

SALT LAKE CITY — The Cottonwood Heights woman accused of murder in the death of her husband went to police the night before he died. According to details in a search warrant, the woman, Jennifer Gledhill, was covered in bruises on that night.
And she claimed he had beaten her.
The details were contained in a new search warrant for a cell phone that belonged to Jennifer Gledhill’s boyfriend.
Those documents showed that Gledhill went to Cottonwood Heights Police to report a domestic violence incident. According to the search warrant, Gledhill wanted police to photograph the bruises on her body.
She reportedly described how, at one point, her husband was on top of her with a closed fist and striking her. The search warrant also states the officer she talked to saw she had a bruise under her left eye.
About a month before, in August 2024, Gledhill filed for a restraining order. It was reportedly denied days before she went to Cottonwood Heights police with bruises.
District Attorney Sim Gill stated in charging documents that she was found by court to be an instigator to get her husband in trouble.
Court appearance
Today, Gledhill made her first court appearance, in which the judge granted a protective order that states she cannot contact her children.
That is in place Monday, until the case moves forward and the next judge decides.
