SALT LAKE CITY — The locations of 15 new temples were announced during the 195th Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including another one in Utah.

President Russell M. Nelson announced a temple will be built in Spanish Fork and 14 other locations across the world. The 100-year-old church president made the announcement at the end of the afternoon session Sunday. President Nelson was present at the Conference Center for that session, but his remarks were delivered in a pre-recorded message.

The new temples will be built at or near the following locations:

  • Reynosa, Mexico
  • Chorrillos, Peru
  • Rivera, Uruguay
  • Campo Grande, Brazil
  • Porto, Portugal
  • Uyo, Nigeria
  • San Jose del Monte, Philippines
  • Noumea, New Caledonia
  • Liverpool, Australia
  • Caldwell, Idaho
  • Flagstaff, Arizona
  • Rapid City, South Dakota
  • Greenville, South Carolina
  • Norfolk, Virginia
  • Spanish Fork, Utah

“Regular worship in the house of the Lord increases our capacity for both charity and virtue. Thus, time in the temple increases our confidence before the Lord. Increased time in the temple will help us prepare for the Second Coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ,” said President Nelson. “We do not know the day or the hour of his coming. But I do know that the Lord is prompting me to urge us to get ready for that ‘great and dreadful day.’”

With this news, President Nelson has now announced 200 temples since he became president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2018.

There are now 382 temples that are in operation, under construction, or announced, according to the church.
