Phil Lyman loses case contesting GOP primary election results

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Rep. Phil Lyman’s (R-Blanding) lawsuit contesting the GOP primary election results has been dismissed by the Utah Supreme Court.

In his lawsuit, he requested to be named the Republican gubernatorial candidate in the November general election ballot. Lyman also requested the removal of Gov. Spencer Cox and Lieutenant Governor Deidre Henderson from office for “malfeasance.”
Lyman posted on X soon after the motion was announced, but didn’t specify if it was about the Utah Supreme Court’s decision.

Henderson responded to the decision on X. She, along with Gov. Cox, Robert Axson and the Utah Republican Party were all listed as defendants in Lyman’s lawsuit.

A day prior, on August 12, Lyman officially petitioned the Utah Supreme Court to pause the printing of ballots until they ruled on this lawsuit, which was filed August 2.
