LINDON – The body of a 23-year-old man was found Monday morning during a search and rescue operation at Utah Lake, according to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.
Sgt. Ray Ormond with the sheriff’s office said the search began around 5:30 p.m. Sunday near the Vineyard Beach area of Utah Lake after a WaveRunner carrying two people flipped.
Sgt. Dallin Turner of the Utah County Sheriff’s Office said one person was rescued by a passing boat and that weather played a role in the incident
“Wind was definitely factor yesterday and the conditions on the water on Utah Lake being choppy,” he said.
At approximately 1 a.m. Monday, the sheriff’s office found the body of a 23-year-old male with the help of Life Flight and the Department of Public Safety.
“This is a tragic and unfortunate ending to the course of events from yesterday,” the sheriff’s office said in a post on X. “We would like to extend our condolences to the family.”
The sheriff’s office is also reminding the public to wear their life vests anytime they are out on the “various bodies of water in Utah County.”
