Student injured, hit by school bus in Millcreek while walking to school

MILLCREEK — A young girl was injured after being hit by a school bus while walking to school early Thursday morning, according to the Unified Police Department.
Sgt. Aymee Race with UPD said the girl was hit around 7:15 a.m. in the intersection of 3900 South and 900 East. The girl had the right-of-way in the crosswalk, but the Granite School District school bus made a turn and hit her.
The girl was taken to the hospital in fair condition, police said.
The Granite School District had said that the bus driver, in accordance with protocol, would not return to work until the investigation is complete. It issued a statement late Thursday:
Granite School District is aware of an incident involving a pedestrian and one of our school buses this morning. In accordance with Department of Transportation and District critical incident response protocols, the employee will not return to work until the completion of an internal investigation. At the completion, appropriate action will be taken. Additionally, we have reached out to the individual’s family to offer support. We sincerely regret that this incident occurred
