SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s Lieutenant Governor has announced that the recount for the hotly contested 2nd Congressional District Republican Primary has been completed. This historic CD2 recount comes on the heels of the closest primary election in Utah in decades. According to the announcement, Rep. Celeste Maloy has won.

Recount complete with Washington County’s canvass. Final numbers coming shortly, but results did not change. Congratulations to Congresswoman Celeste Maloy.

Deputy Director of Elections, Shelly Jackson did say today that there were some changes to votes that were counted wrong the first time.

Shortly after making the announcement of Rep. Maloy’s victory in the primary, Lt. Gov. Henderson posted the official tally after the recount. According to the statement, only 176 votes separated the candidates.

Both candidates also chimed in, sharing their thoughts after the CD2 recount results were announced.

And they both cite an ongoing lawsuit challenging the results sitting with the Utah Supreme Court.
