SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities and their partners awarded local businesses Golden Key Awards today. There are five categories in which businesses can win awards, including small, medium and big business of the year.

Star Nursery, Dan Albro and Loveland Aquarium and Lowe’s took home those honors respectively. Additionally, six other employers received awards for their work promoting employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

Sarah Brenna, Director of the Utah State Office of Rehabilitation, said they received dozens of nominations from around the state.

“It’s great to see these employers take the lead in overcoming biases and building an understanding of the employability of people with disabilities,” said Brenna in a press release.

The Golden Key Awards recognize the people and businesses who believe in Utahns with disabilities, said the press release. It continued and said, “people with disabilities provide a wealth of knowledge, skills, talents and experiences. They add diversity, resourcefulness and creative energy to Utah’s workforce.”
