OGDEN, Utah — Ogden residents have a chance to give their input on the reimagining of the Ogden Union Station building and see the latest developments on the project.
The new vision for the 30 acres around Union Station has been in development for a while. Plans to revive the area include adding restaurants, retail stores and apartments in the neighborhood.
The project aims to return Union Station to its original purpose as a hub of the community while keeping it a place of living history. Right now the plans are only drafts and developers are accepting public comment. Visit the Union Station Neighborhood site to submit comments.
This year, the project was awarded to four development groups. They are McWhinney, J. Fisher Companies, Mortenson, and Design Workshop. According to the project’s website, “The team combines national and local experts in real estate development, urban design, and construction.”
One major aspect of the Ogden Union Station project will be its relationship with the FrontRunner. The city wants people to get off the train and funnel through the grand hall to experience Union Station the way it was originally.
The proposed project would include developing the surrounding northern and southern areas of the Union Station.
The northern part would include the residential areas and an “Innovation District”.” The southern area will be a Union Station Campus, which will include restaurants and shops.
