About the Chad Daybell Trial
In November 2019, Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow-Daybell married in Hawaii shortly after their spouses' death. In just a few weeks following their wedding, Rexburg police announced Lori's children, Tylee and JJ, were missing, and Chad and Lori were persons of interest in the case.
Flash forward to 2020. Lori was arrested in February, and the remains of the children's bodies were found in June in the backyard of one of Daybell's properties. Daybell was arrested soon after uncovering their remains with a bail set to $1 million.
Lori and Chad Daybell were indicted by a grand jury in May 2021 on multiple counts of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the deaths of her children, JJ Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 16, and Daybell's first wife, Tammy Daybell, who was 49. Chad Daybell is also facing charges of two counts of insurance fraud in relation to Tammy Daybell's life insurance policies.
Lori Vallow-Daybell was found guilty on all charges in May of 2023 and was sentenced in July of that year to serve life in prison without parole. She is currently serving her sentence in Maricopa County Jail in Arizona.
Now Chad Daybell sits on trial in Boise, facing the death penalty. A jury will hear more details about the case than were available to the public before. Stay tuned on KSL NewsRadio to listen to the latest from our reporters and legal analysts.
