Brigham City Police ask for public’s help identifying human remains found in trash bag

BRIGHAM CITY — Brigham City Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person’s remains that were found in a trash bag Wednesday. Police on Friday released an artist’s rendition of a tattoo found on the remains in hopes someone could identify it.

Brigham City Police Detective Crystal Beck says the autopsy has been completed, but it did not help them determine the age, gender, race, or ethnicity of the person. However, Beck says there are some are other hints about their identity.

 

“The victim has long hair that was held back with a hair tie and was wearing female clothing,” Beck said.

It is unclear how the person died or how long they have been dead. Beck says it is in a fairly high state of decomposition. They believe they could have been dead anywhere from one month to years.

Nobody reported missing in Brigham City right now

Beck says no one is reported missing from Brigham City right now, so they have to expand the parameters for who they could be searching for.

“We are taking into account that this person may not be from Box Elder County,” Beck said. “So we are looking at all missing persons, both state and nationwide.”

The body was found in a black trash bag near the railroad tracks around 2600 West Highway 13 on Wednesday afternoon. Beck says Union Pacific Railroad workers were cleaning up the area and picking up trash when they found the bag. 

Police said the person did have a distinctive tattoo on their left bicep and released an artist’s rendition of it to the public, with the hopes that someone could identify them. If you have any information, you are encouraged to contact Brigham City Police.
