SPANISH FORK, Utah — One man is in police custody after alleged reckless driving Saturday afternoon.
Sgt. Cam Roden with Utah Highway Patrol says authorities received multiple calls about the man, who police identified as 28-year-old Skylar Johnston. These calls reported the driver break-checking and tailgating, along with other reckless driving behaviors. They came in from drivers in Salt Lake County all the way to Utah County as the Johnston continued to drive.
Roden goes on to say a UHP trooper made contact with Johnston at a gas station in Spanish Fork. Following this, the trooper conducted an investigation for road rage, impaired driving and possible domestic violence.
According to a probable cause statement, Johnston was reported to have been yelling at a female passenger. However, during the investigation, the trooper confirmed that no incident relating to domestic violence had occurred.
Through investigation, Johnston was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Along with this, the trooper conducted a field sobriety test and concluded Johnson was not safe to operate a vehicle.
From here, Johnston was arrested and transferred into the Utah County Jail. Johnston was booked on the following charges: driving on suspended or revoked license, driving under the influence, open container/drinking alcohol in a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving and use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
