MURRAY, Utah – A Murray man is charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault after he reportedly raped a woman in his apartment.  Prosecutors report the suspect may have given police evidence that links him to other sexual assaults.

The investigation into Robert Davis started after he reportedly raped a woman while holding a knife to her neck. Charging documents say Davis met the victim at the Midvale Cemetery and offered her a ride. However, the pair reportedly “cruised” to different places and eventually ended up at his apartment.

Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill said, “He allegedly pulled out a knife and kept her there against her will while he proceeded to sexually assault her.”

After the attack, arrest records say the victim was able to get away and ran out of the apartment, leaving her personal items behind.

“She was able to, luckily, escape, then went directly to a hospital and got a sexual assault examination done and positively identified Davis in a photo line-up,” Gill said.

Those records show the victim did a great job remembering important information that led officers to Davis. They state she remembered how the knife looked, what kind of jacket Davis wore and where blood may have been left on his futon.

She even reportedly described Davis’ collection of Star Wars memorabilia, including a large figurine of Yoda.

When officers searched Davis’ apartment, records show it looked very similar to what the victim had described. However, police found another key piece of evidence.

Gill said, “What was identified was a hand-written list in the defendant’s bedroom.  The list contained names of females and how the defendant met them.”

Investigators believe this could be a list of previous victims. Gill said women on that list were contacted and interviewed, and some of them had already filed complaints against Davis.

“There were individuals who said who said the defendant was harassing them, threatening them or had sexually assaulted them,” Gill said.  “Those are allegations, and they’re being investigated.”

Gill is not at liberty to give any details of those other cases, including where they happened. Prosecutors requested Davis not be allowed bail.
