HIDEOUT, Utah — Two weeks ago, 61-year-old Patrick Hayes was shot to death near Jordanelle Reservoir. NOW, the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office has new evidence from cell phone data which they say pieces together a timeline that leads up to Hayes’ death.

Police are now asking anyone who was near or on I-80 near Kimball Junction in Summit County at 10:58 p.m. the night of Sept. 25 to report any strange incidents.

Now that a timeline is known, Hayes’s family is asking anybody who saw anything, or even thinks they saw something, to come forward.

Brother of Patrick Hayes asks for help

Patrick’s brother Mike told KSL NewsRadio’s Dave & Dujanovic how important it is for people to come forward.

“What we want is [for] people to come forward if … you thought you saw anything,” Hayes said. “On first blush you may not think it’s anything, but if you happen to [have been] in that area and think you may have seen something … I’m just hoping people really take this seriously.”

Watch Debbie’s full video on what this new evidence could mean:

@debbieradiogal #greenscreen Suspect/s are still not in custody and detectives aren’t sure if Patrick Haye’s blue VW Toas was hit by another car on I-80 at Kimball Junction in Summit County, Utah, before he was shot and killed. That’s why they need the public’s help. New cell phone location data pinpoints Patrick’s route home and suggests something may have occured that slowed him down significantly before he was shot to death. Hayes said they now know a 45 caliber handgun was used and that the other car was a Jeep Gladiator.

“I think that’s another important bit of information that somebody has seen. Somebody knows it and that’s why I would encourage anyone who has seen these things, please, please come forward.”

Police used surveillance footage to identify the Jeep Gladiator. A camera at the entrance of Ross Creek Day Use area captured the killing, but headlights washed out the car colors and license plate number.

As far as Hayes knows, there are still no suspects. He said police don’t yet know if it was one or multiple killers.

This was his message to the suspects:

“He was a good guy. He loved his family. And you just need to come forward and take responsibility.”

If you have any information, please contact the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office at 485-654-1411.
