One person killed in crash on SR-191 in San Juan County

SAN JUAN COUNTY, Utah — One person was killed Friday morning in a one-vehicle crash in San Juan County.
According to a new release, the Utah High Patrol says the crash occurred on SR-191 near milepost 80. The release further states that a white 2017 Dodge Ram pickup was traveling northbound on the highway. For reasons unknown, the vehicle went off the left side of the highway.
At this location of the highway, the release states, “there is a sweeping right-hand turn with a large dirt lot on the west side with a ravine beyond.”
After leaving the highway, the truck traveled through a dirt lot. It then struck the boulders and cedar trees beyond.
The truck then came to a rest on its roof. The driver, the lone occupant in the vehicle, was ejected and died at the scene.
The UHP says the exact time of the crash is not known. However, a semi drove by and noticed the truck at 9:45 a.m.
Speed and alcohol are being investigated as contributing factors to the San Juan County crash. The identity of the victim has not been released.
