SLCPD looking for public tips in homicide investigation

SALT LAKE CITY – Salt Lake City Police Department is asking the public for helpful information in regards to a homicide investigation. According to a press release from police, the investigation started on Sept. 12. Police received information about an unconscious person near 400 South and 600 West.
Accordingly, SLCPD, Salt Lake City Fire and Gold Cross responded. Officials determined the person was deceased at the scene. The death was not classified as a homicide, but because of the suspicious circumstances, the SLCPD Homicide squad responded to investigate. Police gathered evidence and checked the area for cameras and witnesses.
The Office of the Medical Examiner performed an autopsy and determined the death was a homicide. The victim is an adult. Because the victim’s family has not been notified, name, age or gender are not being released at this time.
Additionally, SLCPD did not comment on what made the circumstances of this death suspicious. Police have made no arrests at this time.
This is the 11th homicide in SLC this year.
