ST. GEORGE — A routine traffic stop on Wednesday led police to arrest one man. They say he had fourteen other people’s driver’s licenses on him in St. George.
In a probable cause statement for the incident, a Utah Highway Patrol officer said he pulled over a vehicle for a window tint violation on northbound I-15. Then, the officer smelled marijuana in the vehicle and became suspicious of criminal activity, the statement said.
“The driver could not identify a male passenger … who was seated in the rear of the vehicle, and could not tell me where he was picked up,” the statement said.
The statement identifies the man as 31-year-old Darnell Hadden Parks of California. When officers searched the vehicle, they found marijuana and drug paraphernalia. They also found a backpack that was next to Parks in the back seat.
“A backpack was located near Parks which was found to contain 13 driver’s licenses belonging to various people not in the vehicle or related to Parks,” the statement said. “There was also an open container of alcohol in Parks’ backpack.”
The man had one more ID in his pocket that also wasn’t his. In total, police accus Parks of 14 felony counts of unlawful possession of another person’s ID. They also accuse him of possessing a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
