One dead, juvenile arrested after shooting in apartment complex in Washington City

WASHINGTON, Utah — A man has died, and a juvenile is in custody after a shooting took place around 2 a.m. on Sunday at 20 North Red Trail in Washinton City.
Washington City Police Department said in a press release that they had received reports of shots being fired at an apartment complex a little before 2 a.m.
When police arrived, they found a man who had been shot. Officers said they started life-saving efforts on the man until a medical team was able to take over. The man was then reported to be taken to St. George Regional Hospital and was pronounced deceased.
Using security cameras at the apartment complex, police said they were able to find a juvenile suspect. From there, police were able to arrest the suspect around 7 a.m.
Greg Lovell with the WCPD said there was a female witness at the scene where the shooting took place.
“The Washington City Police Department sends heartfelt condolences to the victim’s family,” Police stated in the press release.
“We also want to thank all those who assisted with this incident and local citizens on the scene.”
The press release stated that Washington City Fire, Gold Cross Ambulance, Metro SWAT Team, and Washington City’s dispatch center were in assistance to this incident.
The incident is still under investigation, according to WCPD.
