WEST JORDAN, Utah — Police in West Jordan are investigating a suspicious vehicle, in which the driver attempted to pull over another motorist.
Police say the incident happened early Friday morning around 2 a.m. Additionally, police say the incident started on northbound I-15 near Bangerter Highway. It continued to 1300 W. 7000 South.
In a news release, police say the caller reported she was being followed by a silver Chevrolet Silverado. The Chevrolet was flashing its headlights and using flashing green lights.
The suspect then cut off the vehicle, forcing the woman to stop. The suspect claimed to be a police officer in Salt Lake City. The news release states that the suspect was confronting the woman about her driving. However, he fled the scene when she called 911.
Suspicious vehicle
The suspect is described as a white male roughly 5-foot-9-inches. The Chevrolet is a newer model with LED lights in the back. The truck also had a dealership sticker on the tailgate and a custom license plate. It also had an emblem on the left side of the license.
“The female acted appropriately by calling 911 to verify if an unmarked police vehicle was indeed trying to pull her over,” said Alondra Zavala, of the West Jordan Police Department. “If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, we recommend you do the following: Slow down, turn on your hazard flashers, drive to a well-lit area, and call 911 if
you are concerned the vehicle is not a law enforcement vehicle.”
The case is still under investigation.
