The agreement lengthens the teacher contract to 190 days, which will be the longest teacher contract in the state of Utah, according to the Granite School District.
The Canyons School District says starting this fall, all their teachers will receive a $7,665 a year pay raise. It is a double-digit percentage boost for the third year in a row and it will raise the starting pay to $50,000 a year, the highest in the Salt Lake Valley. Spokesman Jeff Haney says the increase is an investment, "not just in our teachers, but our children."

Kacey Ruegsegger Johnson survived the Columbine shooting 20 years ago, now as she's dropping off her own kids at school has developed her own ritual. On a recent sunny spring morning, she helped her kids find their book bags and tie their shoes before ushering them to the car. She prayed aloud as they neared the school, giving thanks for a beautiful morning and asking for a day of learning and friendship.
As always, she made a silent addition: Keep them safe.
A Kentucky principal's viral rant about Aunt Becky drives home a very serious point with humor: "helping" your kids may actually be hurting their education.
