CHEYENNE, Wyo — Virtual Integrated Citizen, or VIC, is the first non-human candidate to run for mayor in Wyoming’s capital.

VIC’s campaign has a relatively standard history. It began when the campaign’s ‘human component,’ Victor Miller, filed for VIC’s candidacy. One of the moments that convinced Miller to take that step stems from a city council meeting.

“I counted up all the pages of supporting documents that the council was supposedly looking through,” Miller said. “There was 422 pages of it.”

Miller’s certain no council member would’ve read those docs in-depth; however, VIC can.

“I could feed those into VIC. He processes it, understands it and makes an educated vote based on the actual data.”

Transparency and Innovation

Streamlining official data is one of VIC’s strongest promises, and giving people in Cheyenne a city leader who doesn’t cut corners and listens helps.

“The impetus for me starting this,” Miller says, “Is the city of Cheyenne doesn’t follow the Wyoming public records act per state statute…. These AI’s know the state front and back by heart.”

VIC could set up the city to be ready for the next generation of AI. Miller adds the program would also listen to residents.

“I think we’re all disenchanted with the current state of politics. I hope he can turn that around a bit,” Miller said.

He’ll remain the human component of Vic’s campaign. Miller says physical activities take second place to a mayor’s sovereign power, human or not.

“That is what I plan to solve with the new intelligence that I’m offering the citizens of Cheyenne.”
