SALT LAKE CITY– The Utah legislative session begins in less than two weeks, and there are ways Utahns can be involved.

Chris Bleak, former Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the Utah House of Representatives, gives advice on how to get more information on a bill of interest.

Bleak advised citizens to visit le.utah.gov to listen to committee meetings, find your area representatives, and look up information and updates on specific house bills as they progress through the session.

“If you have a real specific issue, and usually that issue, if it goes anywhere it needs to come into a bill form. Knowing what that bill number is gives you real power,” said Bleak.

The site aims to give more access to citizens on the happenings during the session.

Online, anyone can watch meetings as well as set up alerts to track updates on specific bills.

The 45-day session begins on Jan. 17.
