North Redmond Fire determined to be human caused

SALT LAKE CITY — A fire broke out north of the Sevier River near Redmond, Sevier County on Saturday afternoon, burning an estimated 100 acres of brush and briefly threatening multiple nearby structures.
Utah Fire Info said the fire started from a controlled burn earlier in the day that was believed to have been completely extinguished. The flames were reignited after winds picked up and fanned embers shortly after 3 p.m.
No evacuations were ordered when the fire broke out.
The human caused blaze was fought by multiple fire fighting resources, including Gunnison, Sterling, Levan, Salina, Aurora, Richfield, Monroe, Forest Service and BLM.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., Utah Fire Info announced the fire was now burning “lighter fuel” and no longer threatened any nearby structures.
As of Saturday afternoon, Utah Fire Info has reported 54 different fires across the state, burning a collective 360 acres of land.
