Flood warnings still in place in Utah as temperatures rise

SALT LAKE CITY— The National Weather Service still has numerous flood warnings and other advisories in place across Utah since more of the snowpack is expected to melt this week.

Current Utah flood warnings include:

• The south fork of the Ogden River
• The Strawberry River where water enters Strawberry Reservoir
• The Sevier River near Hatch
• The Bear River near Randolph and Woodruff

Along the Wasatch Front, there is a flood watch for the Lower Weber River near Plain City and a flood advisory in Utah County near Thistle.

There is also a flood advisory in place for the Blacksmith Fork River near Hyrum.

Just what we need

Temperatures are expected to stay in the 80’s all week, but at this point, KSL Meteorologist Kevin Eubank says, this is what we need.

“It’s a good thing we’re getting these warm temperatures because we’re starting to trigger some of these bigger snowpacks…that have to come down now,” Eubank said.

Eubank said there is still an average of 12.6 inches of water that needs to come down the mountains, about 42% left.

However some areas, like the Cottonwoods still have 70 to 80% of their snowpack.

According to the KSL River Flow Tracker, only four rivers had reported flooding as of Wednesday morning.
