Avalanche danger high, warning in effect

SALT LAKE CITY — Avalanche danger is high right now according to the National Weather Service. An avalanche warning remains in effect until Monday at 6 a.m.
The alert covers the Uinta Mountains, Wasatch Range, Bear River Range and Wellsville Mountains.

The National Weather Service says heavy snow combined with strong winds has created wide areas of unstable terrain. They warn that both natural and human-triggered avalanches are probable.
The Utah Avalanche Center’s website shows high avalanche danger from Logan to Skyline. According to the Utah Avalanche Center, people should avoid being on or beneath drifted slopes steeper than 30 degrees.
Avalanche danger is high, more snow expected
On Sunday afternoon the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory. The incoming storm could bring another 5-10 inches of snow to the northern mountains. The central and southern Wasatch Mountains could see 6-12 inches.
The advisory is in effect until Monday at 6 a.m.
