Hard freeze, frost warnings in place for some parts of Utah tonight

CACHE VALLEY, Utah — Some of Utah’s colder valleys are under a frost warnings for Monday night, said The National Weather Service.
“Cache Valley, the Wasatch Back, the Sanpete Valley and areas near Panquich, we’re expecting a hard freeze tonight,” Christine Cruse, with the National Weather Service of Salt Lake told KSL NewsRadio.

“Which means temperatures at or below 28 degrees.”
Hard Freeze Warnings are now in effect tonight into Tuesday morning for:
🧊Cache Valley (particularly low-lying areas near the Bear River)
🧊SW Utah (particularly near Enterprise)
🧊Bear Lake & Bear River Valley
🧊Sanpete Valley
🧊Upper Sevier River Valleys

Cruse said parts of the Wasatch Front should also be concerned about frost.
“…Particularly the colder areas north of Ogden, as well as some of those colder areas near Spanish Fork and Payson in Utah Valley,” Cruse said.

If you live in one of the hard-freeze areas especially, Cruse said you’ll want to pull in or cover your plants that are sensitive to temperatures and consider winterizing things like swamp coolers, pipes and RVs.

And there’s nothing new here, this strong cold front is “fairly typical” for this time of year.
“This is just kind of a short period of cold temperatures,” Cruse said. “We’re going to gradually warm up through the rest of the week and be back well above normal by Wednesday,” she said.
