Late weekend storm expected to help extend ski season

SALT LAKE CITY — Ski season isn’t quite over yet. A late weekend storm is expected to bring fresh powder to the mountains, keeping the ski season alive for a few more weeks.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Brittany Whitlam said this storm should bring a cooler, more active weather pattern to the state.

“By Sunday we’re looking at temperatures in the 60s, and then on Monday we’re going to drop pretty quickly, looking at temperatures in the 40s or 50s. So kind of a look at a 10-degree drop in just one day.”
Whitlam said temperatures are expected to remain in the 40s and 50s into the end of next week.
“And then again some signals for storms that’s a little bit of ways out, but we’re still seeing those signals show up for potential additional precipitation and cooler temperatures.
Whitlam said snow is expected to start falling Sunday afternoon lasting through Tuesday, bringing one to two feet of snow in the Northern and Central Utah mountains and a potentially slushy commute on Tuesday morning.
