SALT LAKE CITY — KSL Meteorologist Matt Johnson gave a glimpse into the long-term weather outlook as Utah heads into winter.
Weather models show the Salt Lake Valley should get over 40 inches of snow from December to April. However, north of Salt Lake City, snowfall is expected to be higher.
Johnson said Utah will likely stay within this range, but people shouldn’t be surprised if we see some weather whiplash like we did in October.
“Where we’ll go from dry streaks to wet streaks and [then] we’ll flip-flop,” said Johnson.
According to Johnson’s weather outlook, snowfall is expected to continue through March and end in April.
Parts of the Salt Lake Valley will get hit with more snow.
“[There will be] some hot spots that see a lot more snow … other [hot] spots are going to be north of Salt Lake City,” said Johnson.
Johnson expects these winter predictions to be fairly accurate.
“We won’t stray too far. I think we will stay within the ballpark…”
