SALT LAKE CITY — Cooler temperatures leave the homeless and unhoused service providers vulnerable. Road Home community coordination director Karissa Guthrie says they are in need of cold weather clothing and hand warmers most.

These providers are always in need of donations no matter the season, however freezing temperatures only worsen the situation.

“Lets say you’re going through your closet and you’re noticing  some clothes don’t fit you or your kids clothes are not fitting them right.. please sign up and we’ll be happy to take those donations,” said Guthrie.

But, there are other ways to help either monetarily or volunteering, you can visit  theroadhome.org to set something up.

“There’s always opportunities to serve a meal, to run a childs program, or help out in our warehouse… we are always looking for volunteers to help out in these capacities” Guthrie said.

Guthrie says there is about 200 people in their overflow system not just with the road home but with all other providers as well.

If you or someone you know is in need of help or services, Guthrie encourages those to give them a call to seek out what’s best for them but walk-ins are always welcome as well.
