Salt Lake City approves $6.4 million for affordable housing

SALT LAKE CITY — There will soon be more options for affordable homeownership in Salt Lake City.
The Salt Lake City Community Reinvestment Agency has approved almost $6.4 million in funding for homes for low to moderate income households.
“We know that Salt Lake is now a majority renters city,” said Browne Sebright, project manager with the Community Reinvestment Agency. “And we’ve seen increasing barriers for renters to build wealth, buy homes and prepare financially for their future.”
The Community Reinvestment Agency released the funding opportunity in October 2025 and has approved two projects.
Gladhouse 3 will be located at 1084 W. 1700 South, creating eight affordable single-family homes for households earning at or below 80% of the Area Median Income.
Brix on Tenth will be located at 1549 S. 1000 West, creating 23 deed-restricted townhomes for households earning between 80% and 100% of the Area Median Income.
“We have a housing shortage and there’s a housing crisis,” Salt Lake City Council member Erika Carlsen said. “And that demands that we tackle this from all different angles.”
