Mount Superior search and rescue team recovered body of fallen hiker

SALT LAKE CITY — A hiker was killed on Thursday after falling on the south ridge of Mount Superior, according to the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Search and rescue crews discovered the body of 21-year-old Tanner Baran after receiving reports that someone had fallen. According to the sheriff’s office, first responders believe the hiker fell “a significant distance.”
The sheriff’s office noted the body was safely taken off the mountain and officials were preparing to inform the next of kin Thursday night.
