SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah man convicted of his ex-wife’s murder is now being accused of sexually abusing a child before his conviction.

Johnny Brickman Wall, 62, appeared virtually for his initial court hearing on Monday from the Utah State Correctional Facility in Gunnison. He’s already serving 15 years to life for the murder of his ex-wife in Sugar House almost 15 years ago.

Now, Wall is accused of inappropriately touching a 7-year-old patient on multiple occasions in 2011 and 2012 when he was working as a pediatrician.

That now-adult victim just recently reported the alleged abuse to police.

During Monday’s hearing, Commissioner Todd Olsen read Wall the three new charges he’s facing and ordered that he have no contact with the victim.

Wall appeared confused for much of the hearing, saying he didn’t recognize the victim’s name when it was read to him. He also told the judge, “It’s the first I’m hearing of it,” which appeared to indicate he was not familiar with the new allegations against him.

Wall was then told to contact his new attorney to discuss the charges.

He’s facing three first-degree felony counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child. Just one first-degree felony carries a sentence of five years to life in prison in Utah if the defendant is found guilty.

Wall is scheduled to return to court on April 20. He is expected to be transported from the Gunnison prison to Salt Lake City to appear in person.

We want to hear from you.
