WALLSBURG, Wasatch County — A beloved Easter tradition in Wallsburg continued Saturday thanks to the dedication of one woman and her family.
For 43 years, Kim Hicken has organized the town’s annual Easter egg hunt, creating a fun, community-centered celebration for local children.
“What takes hours to prepare takes minutes to get over with,” Hicken said.
The event blends Easter’s meaning with playful fun for kids.
“Of course, we try to get that in with the kids, the Christ-centered Easter, but also kids need a little fun too,” she said.
This year, the tradition faced a challenge: Hicken was diagnosed with multiple myeloma last September.
“Last September I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma … and so we’ve been dealing with that,” she said.
Hicken’s daughters-in-law stepped in to help organize the hunt, allowing the event to continue despite her health struggles.
