GREEN RIVER, Wyoming — An additional body was found during the investigation of Friday night’s Green River Tunnel, raising fatality confirmations to three, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol Troopers.
The fatal crash happened Friday night on Interstate 80 at Mile Marker 90.2 in Green River, Wyoming.
According to the WHP, 26 vehicles were involved in the crash. The fire following the crash destroyed six commercial vehicles and two passenger vehicles.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation said the WHP cleared about half of the vehicles involved in the 1,200 ft. tunnel.
Nine commercial vehicles and four passenger vehicles were removed from the crash site Saturday night, according to WYDOT.
WYDOT said they’ve contacted DeBernardi Construction to begin moving concrete barriers to the crossover lanes in preparation for guiding traffic head-to-head in the eastbound tunnel.
“Thank you to the community of Green River for your support in keeping traffic moving during this thorough and complicated investigation,” WYDOT District Engineer John Eddins said.
“We know that the detoured traffic was very impactful to your community this weekend, and we will continue to work to minimize impacts.”
