SALT LAKE CITY — From writing essays to generating art, now AI is helping keep schools safe in shooting situations.

ZeroEyes and Aegix Aim are two companies that provide near-immediate alerts to local officials in emergency situations.

ZeroEyes uses existing security cameras and AI to detect potential firearms, which are then confirmed by military veteran operators. Chief strategy officer of Zero Eyes Kieran Carroll says this is one of the most important steps.

“We never want false positives to go off,” Carroll says.

Once verified, alerts are sent to local officials all within 3 to 5 seconds.

Aegix Aim provides school officials with the technology to confirm they are in an emergency situation and keep in contact with local officials to reduce response times and save lives.
