SALT LAKE CITY — The duo that lit up Utah radio airwaves for 20 years returns to radio (and all of your devices) on Monday, with both a new name and the same names. How is that possible?
The names you’ll remember are Ethan Millard and Alex Kirry, who hosted “The Nightside Project” (another name you might remember) on KSL from 2006 to 2017. Those haven’t changed.
Beginning Monday, Alex and Ethan will host their new show, “KSL Brightside“, weekdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Where to find ‘Brightside’
KSL Brightside will exist and entertain in many places. Look at KSL on YouTube from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., and they’ll be there with an original hour, broadcast live from KSL’s state-of-the-art streaming center.
Then they’ll take a few steps over to KSL’s 50,000 watt radio studio and broadcast live again, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Can’t watch or listen live? Of course both segments will be available to stream at your convenience.
What ‘Brightside’ is
The simple answer is entertainment, at a time when something good, something funny and bright, is a welcome change from the day to day news that surrounds us.
Host Ethan Millard is looking forward to making connections.
“Nightside was actually a three-man show,” Millard said in a statement.
“It was you (Alex) and it was me, and it was someone listening in their car. And that’s what the show was about: the three of us hanging out, talking and enjoying ourselves. I’m looking forward to establishing that relationship again – you and me and that one person listening, who might be my mom.”
Or your mom. Or, your mom’s mom.

Host Alex Kirry is also looking forward to connecting with those who remember him and to a new generation of listeners.
“The thing that we’ve always had — and this is what I look forward to again — is connecting with the audience,” Kirry said.
And it’s connecting, but in a different way.
“It’s different now. Obviously, you have all the social media channels and all that stuff,” Kirry said. “I look forward to that, because our listeners at night were so engaged with us, and I want to figure out how to do that again. I can’t wait to get to know people again.”
Why now?
“The Nightside Project drew a remarkably loyal audience,” said Sheryl Worsley, vice president of KSL NewsRadio, “including a generation of young listeners who used the show as their entry point into the news and the world around them.”
Worsley is betting the same audience wants what they wanted before: smart and engaging content that’s fun to listen to.
So put it on your calendars and in your reminders: KSL’s brand new show ‘KSL Brightside’ debuts Monday, May 4, at noon on YouTube and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. MDT on KSL NewsRadio 102.7 FM.
