SALT LAKE CITY — KSL NewsRadio is bringing back one of Utah’s most beloved on-air duos with the launch of KSL Brightside, a brand-new show debuting Monday, May 4. Hosted by Ethan Millard and Alex Kirry, KSL Brightside will air live weekdays from 1-3 p.m. (MT) on KSL NewsRadio and on the KSL NewsRadio stream.
Brightside is a reimagining of The Nightside Project, the iconic KSL show that launched 20 years ago in 2006. Originally launched with a full staff of producers, reporters and a different host lineup, The Nightside Project eventually pared down to just Millard and Kirry in its final years before going off the air in 2017. Now, the duo is back – this time in the daylight.
For Millard, it’s always been about connection. “Nightside was actually a three-man show. It was you (Alex) and it was me, and it was someone listening in their car. And that’s what the show was about: the three of us hanging out, talking and enjoying ourselves. I’m looking forward to establishing that relationship again – you and me and that one person listening, who might be my mom.”
Kirry says reconnecting with listeners is what he’s looking forward to most. “The thing that we’ve always had — and this is what I look forward to again — is connecting with the audience. It’s different now. Obviously, you have all the social media channels and all that stuff. I look forward to that, because our listeners at night were so engaged with us, and I want to figure out how to do that again. I can’t wait to get to know people again.”
Sheryl Worsley, Vice President of KSL NewsRadio, says the timing for Brightside couldn’t be better. “The Nightside Project drew a remarkably loyal audience, including a generation of young listeners who used the show as their entry point into the news and the world around them. Those listeners are adults now, and we know they’re hungry for the kind of smart, engaging, and genuinely fun conversation people have come to expect from Ethan and Alex.”
KSL Brightside will stream an original hour live to YouTube from noon to 1 p.m. (MT) and will air live Monday through Friday from 1-3 p.m. (MT) on KSL NewsRadio (102.7 FM / 1160 AM). The show is available on all major podcast platforms.
