Daybreak residents excited ahead of first Salt Lake Bees game

SALT LAKE CITY — Daybreak residents are excited about having the Salt Lake Bees in their backyard ahead of the team’s first game in their new stadium on Tuesday.

KSL NewsRadio caught up with some Daybreakers and asked them what they thought about having a minor league baseball team so close by.

Daybreak residents ready to embrace Salt Lake Bees

“We’re baseball fans at heart. I’ve always been a lover of the game,” Scott Steele said.

Steele was at a park just around the corner from the new stadium, playing catch with his two kids, Ari and Dylan, who shared his excitement for the new hometown team. The kids said having a team in Daybreak was “freaking awesome” and “really cool.”

He said he’s “beyond excited” to have the Bees here and isn’t concerned about any potential changes this could have for this area.

“As a resident, it makes me want to live here more. Yes, there will be some noise — there will be crowd noise, there will be some light that comes from the stadium. I embrace it, I think it’s phenomenal,” Steele said.

Based on his experience going to Dodgers games, Ray Metcalf isn’t worried either.

“Go to LA games — there’s no concern about it disrupting the atmosphere here,” Metcalf said.

Susi Astrand said she’s excited but a little concerned about the future of traffic and their quiet little neighborhood.

“We have the TRAX out there. We have the mountain view. So hopefully not too much traffic,” Astrand said.

She noted that they’ll just have to wait and see how things play out.

First pitch for Tuesday’s game is set for 6:35 p.m. at the Ballpark at America First Square.

We want to hear from you.
