SOUTH JORDAN — The new ballpark in Daybreak opened its doors for a tour on Wednesday morning, giving reporters and others a sneak peek of the new home of the Salt Lake Bees.
Visitors were required to wear hard hats, safety goggles and vests as they made their way through the construction zone surrounding the stadium. However, once they stepped onto the field, the scene was all baseball—everything looked game-ready.
A team practice was underway as the group passed by the diamond, where they would later set up to meet some of the team.

When Bees General Manager Ty Wardle was asked about concerns regarding the remaining work, he said he wasn’t worried.
“If you see what happens here in 24 hours, they move so quickly. At one point, I might’ve said we were behind, but we’re fully confident it’ll be an awesome experience.”
Wardle acknowledged that some of the exterior work still needs attention, including the completion of the America First Square for entertainment spaces.
“If you’re here for the baseball experience, you’re going to feel right at home,” he said.
He also credited the mild winter weather for helping the team stay on track.
“We were praying for the right temperatures, and it worked out perfectly,” he added.

During a brief break in practice, Bees Team Manager Keith Johnson and Bees Catcher Zach Humphreys were asked about their all-time favorite ballpark snacks. Both agreed on the classic hot dog.
Then came the age-old debate: What’s the best topping? Johnson keeps it simple with mustard, while Humphreys prefers ketchup and onions.
Humphreys was also asked to sum up what it feels like to be at the new ballpark in three words.
“Amazing. Awestruck. Big league.”
The home opener, marking the start of the Bees’ inaugural season at the new ballpark, is set for April 8.
