Member of the Whittingham family wins second Super Bowl as a coach

GLENDALE, Arizona — The son of the University of Utah’s head football coach is celebrating his second Super Bowl as a coach with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Alex Whittingham, son of Utes Head Coach Kyle Whittingham, rejoiced with the rest of Chiefs Kingdom when Kansas City defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII.
Alex has been a member of Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid’s defensive staff in Kansas City since 2018. He served one year as a defensive assistant in 2018 and has since been a defensive quality control coach.
The Brighton High graduate has been a part of the Chiefs’ last two Super Bowl victories in 2019 and now 2022.
Alex played linebacker at the University of Utah from 2013 to 2017 after making the team as a walk-on. Whittingham played 44 games during his time as a Ute, lettering four times.
Before his college days, Whittingham played for the Brighton High School Bengals.
Before Sunday’s big game, Whittingham spoke with his former principal and current Canyons School District Administrator, Charisse Hilton.
Together, they talked about his favorite memories of high school, the nerves of being in front of a big crowd, and what advice he’d give to kids who want to play professionally.
