Utah Grizzlies, Ink Against Cancer to present hockey fundraiser

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Grizzlies announced Monday they’ll hold their annual cancer awareness fundraiser in mid-February.

The Grizzlies have teamed up with the Ink Against Cancer Foundation to present Ink Against Cancer Hockey Night.

This will be the eighth year for the fundraiser. 

“This year will be like no other,” the IACF said in a press release.

For the first time, 10 artists will create tattoos during the event that starts at 6 p.m.

Then the game between the Grizzlies and Wheeling Nailers begins about an hour later.

“Your attendance means more than just an evening out; it’s a gesture of hope and solidarity,” the Utah Grizzlies said on their website. 

At the start of the game,” a couple of [Ink Against Cancer Foundation’s] amazing Cancer Warriors are dropping the ceremonial puck and several others are riding the Zamboni,” said the press release.

Anyone whose life has been touched by cancer is an IAC Cancer Warrior. 

The IACF provides financial assistance to those who are battling cancer, including living expenses and medical bills. 

And the foundation helps people regardless of a patient’s age or cancer type. 

“We are honored to partner with our local professional hockey team to help give Cancer Warriors a break from their day-to-day struggles during their journey,” said the press release. 

The game is on Feb. 16 at the Maverick Center in West Valley. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Utah Grizzlies website.
