SALT LAKE CITY — A truck crashed into a concrete barrier on Interstate 15 in Provo, sending chunks of concrete onto the road and damaging over a dozen cars.
Between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Monday night, two cars traveling northbound in Provo lost control. A truck hit the other car and flipped over a concrete barrier, Utah Highway Patrol‘s Lt. Cam Roden said.
“It was originally thought they were hauling some concrete chunks but between whatever they were hauling and hitting the concrete barrier that broke apart,” Roden explained. “It sprayed a lot of concrete and concrete chunks into the southbound lane.”
Around 15 cars were damaged by the debris, but no one was hurt, according to Roden.
The UHP isn’t sure why the cars initially lost control, but Roden believes the road may have been wet at the time, potentially adding to the problem.
Roden said this is a good reminder to be alert while driving in order to attempt avoiding any unexpected hazards that may be in the road.
