SALT LAKE CITY — Utahns are being reminded to plan their rides home for New Year’s Eve in advance.
Starting now and for the remainder of the holidays, Utah Highway Patrol‘s Lt. Cameron Roden says law enforcement is doing saturation patrols state-wide.
“Just making sure that everybody gets home safely,” Roden said. “And, helping in any way that we can promote responsible driving.”
State troopers are doing a joint campaign with workforce services and the state liquor agency, where people can get a discounted ride home if needed.
Roden said people should plan their New Year’s Eve night accordingly. People are also encouraged to help a friend or family member that may be too impaired to drive. Lastly, Roden said to contact police if you see or know someone who is driving while under the influence.
