2 critically injured in early-morning crash near Utah Capitol

SALT LAKE CITY — Two people were hospitalized after a crash near Utah’s Capitol early Wednesday, according to police in Salt Lake.

Salt Lake City Police Department Sgt. George Uyema told KSL the crash was reported around 2 a.m. at the intersection of 500 North and Columbus Street.

When first responders arrived at the scene, two occupants were found in critical condition and had to be removed from the car, Uyema said.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation as of Wednesday morning.
