SALT LAKE CITY — Those planning to travel around the Salt Lake Valley should plan ahead for a road closure in West Jordan.
Crews will close Bangerter Highway in both directions from 78th to 90th south in West Jordan starting on Saturday.
Utah Department of Transportation spokesman John Gleason said it’s not technically their project.
A dump truck was traveling on Bangerter last May. The bed of the truck was raised and hit a high pressure water pipe that belonged to the Rio Tinto company, damaging it.
That section of road sees about 60 thousand cars every day. Crews hope to wrap up the repair in time for the Monday morning commute.
Editor’s note: This article originally stated the truck was a Rio Tinto vehicle. It has since been corrected to reflect a third party truck hit a Rio Tinto pipe.
