13-year-old dies after going missing at Bear Lake

GARDEN CITY, Utah — A 13-year-old girl has died after she was reported missing at Bear Lake on Saturday.
The girl was reported missing to the local authorities at 5:56 p.m. on the east shore of the lake, according to the Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
“Marine Deputies and boats were in the area within minutes and began searching,” Susan Bingham with the BLCSO said.
The girl was found and brought to medical personnel where her death was announced at 9 p.m.
“The Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office extends our deepest sympathy to the family. And a heartfelt thanks to all first responders and the public who worked to try and locate the young lady,” Bingham said. “Tragically this incident emphasizes the importance of life jackets while engaging in water activities.”
