Body found in Ogden storage unit identified as 41-year-old woman

OGDEN, Utah — Police say human remains found inside an Ogden storage unit last week belong to a 41-year-old woman named Alice Ann Valdez.
The death, discovered by the owners of Stock-N-Lock Self Storage as they cleaned out the storage unit, is still under investigation. Police did not offer any more details about how Valdez died or how her body came to be located in the storage shed. They also could not say how long Valdez was in the storage unit before her body was discovered, but said it was likely a long time, based on the state of decomposition.
Lt. Brian Eynon with Ogden police said the department considers the case “very suspicious.” He said detectives identified Valdez using fingerprints.
The storage unit in question had been abandoned, police said, and the business owners were cleaning it out because its previous user was behind on payments. As of Tuesday, police were working to track down that previous renter.
Court records suggest Valdez was a transient with a long history of minor crimes such as drug use and trespassing. There was no record of any new charges or arrests in Utah after 2017.
