Firearm discharged while police search Cedar City residence, one person injured

SALT LAKE CITY — The Cedar City Police Department is investigating after a shooting occurred while officers served a search warrant at a residence.
In a Facebook post, the Cedar City police said the incident happened at approximately 5 p.m.
Officers were serving a search warrant at a residence near the 350 West block of 400 North. As police searched the residence, the post states, someone discharged a firearm inside. According to a preliminary investigation, the firearm was not shot by police.
One person involved in the incident was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
No officers were injured in the shooting. At the time of publication police said there was no ongoing threat to the public.
