OGDEN — There’s another hyper-fast EV charging station in Utah, and more are on the way.
On Thursday, Rocky Mountain Power unveiled its latest charging station in Ogden.
In a press release, the utility company said it’s one of 20 fast-charging stations that will eventually be available to EV drivers across Utah.

Right now there are fast EV charging stations in Layton, Kimball Junction, Millcreek, Moab, Ogden, Salina and Vernal.

A hyper-fast charger can fully charge an “average” electric vehicle in less than an hour, according to the utility company.
EV charging rates vary
How long it takes to charge an EV can vary greatly. The time is impacted by the size of a vehicle’s battery and the type of charging station the driver uses.
According to the company, Rocky Mountain Power’s hyper-fast stations, which offer charging speeds up to 350 kilowatts, can “fully charge an average vehicle in less than an hour.”
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, taking a vehicle’s charger type into consideration, slower public charging stations can take at least twice as long.
Looking toward the future
The latest EV fast-charger in Ogden is part of Rocky Mountain Power’s long-term plan to spend $50 million on EV charging infrastructure in Utah.
“These EV chargers, like those at the city’s municipal building, are a meaningful step toward Ogden’s future,” Ogden Mayor Ben Nadolski said on Thursday. “We’re grateful to have Rocky Mountain Power as a partner in this effort.”
Rocky Mountain Power customers may qualify for a discount to use the new fast charger.
