One man dead after crash causes brush fire in Iron County

SALT LAKE CITY — Authorities responded to a fatal car accident and brush fire on state Route 56 Thursday morning.
According to a press release from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report of a fire near Mile Post 11 at approximately 2:43 a.m. While they were en route to the scene, they received another call reporting a single car accident had caused the fire.
The sheriff’s office said the scene revealed that a passenger car had left the roadway at a “very high rate of speed.” From here, the driver lost control and rolled his car multiple times.
Deputies located the driver and performed lifesaving measures; however, the driver, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff’s office identifies the driver as 22-year-old Tristin Vandall.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
